“Sunday Handymen”: Here’s what you need to know before the premiere Thursday

The first episode of the brand new renovation competition Sunday handymen: the competition will be presented Thursday on CASA.

Hosted by Dave Morissette, the show will highlight a dozen DIYers who will have to demonstrate their ingenuity as they compete in a series of renovation, repair and construction challenges.

Throughout the competition, candidates will be challenged at different levels and on different skills that every good handyman should master, namely organizational skills, time management, resourcefulness, but also talent.

At the end of each challenge, carpenter Pat Lap (Patrick Laperrière) will evaluate the participants’ work.

The person with the best evaluation will be named handyman of the day.

On the other hand, the three people who performed less well will have to face the house of misfortunes, a dilapidated house described as “a big bundle of troubles and problems” by the renovation expert that we were able to see, among other things, in the series on Netflix Making Fun. The Sunday handyman who is no match for the others will be eliminated.

The overall winner of the competition will pocket a prize of $25,000.

For the first challenge of the season, participants will have to repair a chair with the means at hand, in just one hour. The three handymen in danger will then have to lay a hardwood floor over a larger area, on the ceiling of the house of misfortunes.

Portraits of the candidates

For this first season of Sunday handymenonly four women will enter the competition, compared to eight men.

Among the selected applications, several work in a profession related to the construction sector. Two of them are apprentice electricians, another is a handyman or even a landscaper, a carpentry and joinery student and a plasterer and a building painter.

The pool of candidates also includes an airplane pilot, two real estate brokers, a retiree and a financial planner.

Produced by Zone3, in collaboration with Quebecor Content, the show Sunday handymen: the competition will be broadcast on CASA on Thursday at 9 p.m.
