It is none other than filmmaker Denis Villeneuve who will receive the Iris tribute during the 26th edition of the Gala Québec Cinéma, on December 8.
By awarding this prestigious prize to the director of the films Dune, Blade Runner 2049, Arrival et Fires the Québec Cinéma organization – which oversees the great celebration of Quebec cinema – wishes to celebrate his 30-year career “marked by an exceptional contribution to the influence of Quebec and international cinema”.
Villeneuve succeeds actor Rémy Girard who received the Iris tribute last year.
“I thank the Québec Cinéma team for thinking of me for the Iris Tribute Prize this year. This recognition particularly touches me because, despite the fact that I have been touring abroad for several years, I remain rooted in Quebec. It is with joy that I will join my colleagues to celebrate local cinema,” declared Denis Villeneuve in a press release.
Hosted by comedian Phil Roy, the 26th edition of the Gala Québec Cinéma will take place on December 8 and will be presented live on Noovo. This is the movie Humanist vampire seeking consenting suicide which is favorite with 22 nominations, followed by comedies Simple like Sylvain (14 quotes) and 1995 (11 mentions).
