Two months after the murder of the municipal employee, a suspect was arrested. This November 21, 2024, a man was arrested in Portugal by the police as part of the investigation into the death of Lilian Dejean, shot and killed in Grenoble.
Abdul D. is suspected of being the author of the gunshots causing the death of the 49-year-old municipal employee. As a reminder, Lilian Dejean allegedly tried to prevent the arrested individual, responsible for an accident, from fleeing.
According to Grenoble prosecutor Éric Vaillant, “the man likely to be Abdoul D. has just been arrested in Portugal under the European arrest warrant issued by the Grenoble investigating judge in charge of the investigation” .
Arrested in Portugal
Abdul D. was arrested several thousand kilometers from Grenoble, Portugal, as part of cooperation between the Portuguese and French police.
The main suspect in the case is a young man, born in 1999, aged 25who lives in Saint-Martin-d’Hères, according to information from Dauphiné.
It is for this reason that two searches were carried out with the support of the elite Raid unit in this peripheral commune of Grenoble, without success.
Unfavorably known to the courts
The Grenoble police officers managed to identify the main suspect in this case on Sunday September 8, the day of the murder. The identity of Abdul D. was revealed thanks to DNA analyzes carried out on the damaged car.
It was a blue Audi RS3, registered in Poland, which was rented, indicated the Grenoble public prosecutor’s office.
The DNA of suspect number in the murder of Lilian Dejean was in the files of the police for various offenses such as theft, violence and drug trafficking in particular.
A suspect already convicted
He was also sentenced in August 2023 to four months in prison as well as a ban on possessing a weapon until 2028, as indicated by the Grenoble prosecutor, confirming information from the Dauphiné.
During his time in detention, he was suspected of having committed acts of violence. Facts for which he should have responded in court on October 3, 2024.
