Since October 10, health insurance cards with the gender marker “X” (CAM-X) can be produced by the Régie de l’assurance santé du Québec (RAMQ), replacing the H or F, at the demand of non-binary people. The gender identity of these people “lies outside the male/female binary. They may identify as both male and female, neither as male nor female, or partially as one gender.1. People who wish to obtain a CAM-X must have previously made a request to change their sex designation to the Director of Civil Status (DEC).
