Transferring a file from an Android smartphone to a Mac or iPhone is a real hassle, but that could change.
Quick Share is the solution for sharing files between Android devices and Chromebooks. Launched in 2020 under the name Nearbyu Share, the Google function has also been compatible with Windows since last year. Who is missing? Well Apple, of course.
With its closed systems, Cupertino is poorly placed to accept or transfer files to other OSes. With Android, you have to use Android File Transfer or OpenMTP from macOS and it works when it wants. Between iPhone and Android, we’re going back to the stone age with the good old email or message (Google Drive or WeTransfer works too).

In its source code, we can read a comment from a Google engineer who explains a bug fix by highlighting the interest it has for iOS and macOS. But now, QuickShare is not available on these systems. From there to imagining that Google is working on porting it to Apple, there is only one step that we ardently want to take.
