This Thursday, October 31, 2024, ReFé is launching its brand of short-circuit reconditioned mobiles on the island. A way to promote skills and local employment. We publish the press release below (Photo: sly/www.imazpress.com)

Refurbished mobiles have become an attractive alternative for Islanders who wish to equip themselves with high-end, high-performance models at prices up to 30% below the new market and limiting their environmental impact. To date, however, the nearly 30,000 reconditioned mobiles sold each year on the Reunion market are imported. It was time to promote local skills and employment while offering a quality customer experience, including an After-Sales Service (After-Sales Service) operated locally.

ReFé’s mission is to bring together an end-to-end circular ecosystem to extend the lifespan of equipment on Reunion Island (return of smartphones, reconditioning and repair, distribution, after-sales service, etc.). With an environmental impact up to 8 times less significant than a new smartphone*, ReFé aims to avoid more than 60 tonnes of CO2 equivalent in its first year of activity thanks to the sale of its refurbished smartphones and thus to initiate any a local sector of the future.

“I usually say that our model is win-win-win” explains Constance Idrac, partner and co-founder of ReFé. “Win for consumers, the planet and the local economy.”

A refurbished iPhone is a used device that will undergo an in-depth “refacelift” before being put back on the market. The refurbished product is subject to a rating system called grade allowing the consumer to understand the condition of the device they wish to purchase. A grade A+ means that the phone is in perfect functional and aesthetic condition while a grade B shows traces of use such as micro-scratches for example.

ReFé’s choice is to only offer grade A+. ReFé’s reconditioning process is therefore very strict, including more than 60 checkpoints to identify the parts to be refurbished as well as systematic replacement of batteries with new “high capacity” ones (110%).

The commitment can be summed up in 3 words: 2-year warranty!

“With ReFé we have 3 objectives, to contribute sustainably to local development, to offer the people of Reunion Island quality reconditioned products with a guarantee provided locally and to reduce digital waste by offering them a second life” explains Yvan Tourneux, partner and Director of RéFé.

In a global context pushing for a questioning of consumption patterns, ReFé opens a new chapter in the Réunion digital landscape: a local short-circuit brand with 100% after-sales service and an ecological and sustainable vision.

To carry out its mission, ReFé benefits from the know-how and expertise of its partners: Microstor with its Qualirepar-certified repair workshops, and Back2Buzz, a European leader in high-end reconditioned products.
