DAB+ digital radio experiments are being rolled out in Reunion Island
DAB+, digital terrestrial radio, now covers 62.2% of the metropolitan population. So that radio stations can familiarize themselves with this technology and the public has a first glimpse of the advantages of DAB+, particularly sound quality, Arcom has decided to authorize several experiments on Reunion Island.

The experiment started on March 1st already allows DAB+ listening to more than twenty radio stations: Azot Radio, Fréquence Oasis, Capital FM, Hit FM, FréquenceSud, Kayanm FM, Kréol FM, Mélodia, Néo FM, RJL, RPI, Top FM, VanakkamRéunion, Radio ACB, Radio Arc-en-ciel, Radio Kontak, RM9, RIL FM, RadioPikan, Radio Soleil, Radio Sud Plus, Radio Zantak and Salazes FM.

This experiment today marks a new stage in its deployment with the arrival in DAB+ of the Réunion La 1ère and Inter stations.

This concerns the inhabitants of Saint-Denis, but also more recently, listeners located in the South and East of the island. Remember that the experiments on Reunion Island began in March 2024 in the area alone. They have extended, since the beginning of November 2024, to the South and East of the Island (Tampon and Saint-André areas)
Concerned with guaranteeing territorial continuity in the implementation of DAB+ and in view of the results of these experiments, Arcom will decide whether it initiates, in consultation with local stakeholders, the preparation of a call for applications, the first stage of which would be the completion of planning work for DAB+ frequencies on the island.

The authority will remain attentive to feedback from the general public and Reunion radio stations as well as the wishes and initiatives of overseas communities in this area.
