Used to use a fake address to install Windows 11 without creating an account? Sorry to tell you this, but it’s no longer possible.

To install Windows, you must provide a Microsoft account and be connected to the internet. Two restrictions which can sometimes be rather annoying. Some have therefore found ways to circumvent these prerequisites, in particular to be able to install the system without specifying an account or giving an email address.

The blocked addresses trick

The most common trick for this is (or rather was) to enter one of the addresses blocked by Microsoft during registration. The list includes, for example, the addresses [email protected], [email protected] or [email protected]. Entering one of these addresses with a random password causes the installation to bug and leads to the creation of a local account. Practical, right?

Not anymore. With its 24H2 update, Windows 11 no longer allows you to use this trick to cheat the installation and access its OS without providing personal information. In a video by Zac Bowden, journalist from Windows Centralwe can see that entering such an address returns a loop to the e-mail request.

Manage my choices

This is not the first time that Microsoft has corrected a flaw at this level since it was previously possible to switch to local account creation by simply killing a process from the task manager.

Other solutions are available

This blocked address technique was certainly the simplest to implement, which explains why Microsoft ended up blocking it. However, there are other solutions for those who really do not want to create a Microsoft account when installing Windows 11.

Still according to Zac Bowden, it is still possible to launch the command guest to bypass this restriction. To do this, you must cut your internet connection, then press Shift+F10 when Windows asks to connect to the network. A window will then open, in which you must type “OOBEBYPASSNRO”. This command then launches the installation and allows you to create a local account. Phew! Now let’s hope that Microsoft doesn’t block this trick too.
