Alongside iOS 18, macOS 15 could also be presented at the Worldwide Developer Conference. The new operating system for hardware computers would not, however, be available immediately, if we are to believe the developer’s habits. Here are the different release dates to take into account, if you plan to install the program on your machine.
Of course, this potential agenda is ours alone. Indeed, Apple has not revealed any release date for macOS 15 to date. But analyst estimates and leaks already allow us to know more.
When will the macOS 15 release date be revealed?
The release date of macOS 15 should therefore be revealed during the WWDC. This takes place from June 10 to 14, with an opening keynote on the first day at 7 p.m. (Paris time). It is during this presentation that the update would be announced. At the very end of the conference, Apple should also specify the release date of the beta version and that of the version for developers.
Today there are three different major versions, for each edition of macOS:
- the beta version for developersdedicated as its name indicates to app creators but nevertheless accessible to all
- the beta version publicfor all informed users and potentially more stable
- the version finalfree of most of the bugs encountered by other versions
When is the macOS 15 beta release date?
macOS 15 would be offered in beta in two stages. First of all, an edition reserved for developers, the availability of which should coincide with the end of the conference mentioned above. In other words ; the same evening of June 10. This edition will also be accessible to the general public, but it is not recommended to install it out of pure curiosity, as many bugs will certainly be present.
Just after this version, another advanced version, this time targeting everyone, will be deployed. This public beta version would be launched during the month of July, just a few weeks after the developer beta version.
More specifically, we are banking on a release date for macOS 15 in public beta between July 8 and 18, 2024.
Final version release date
The final version of macOS 15, for its part, would have a release date corresponding to September 2024. This, however, would not be revealed during the Worldwide Developer Conference. Indeed, it is very likely that Apple, as is usual every year, only mentions a release during the fall season, but without further details on the exact month or day.
To get a more detailed idea of the release date of the final version of macOS 15, simply turn to the predictions concerning that of iOS 18. According to our calculations, the two versions would thus be on their way to landing on our devices September 16, 17 or 18. Or, the following week, September 23, 24 or 25, 2024.
Features might be late
Despite a release date of macOS 15 in final version apparently scheduled for September, certain features might require us to wait a little longer to test them. During the presentation of macOS Sonoma, certain options were presented as only available “later” in 2024. Sometimes it even happens that you have to wait until the following year to be entitled to new features. Same with iOS 18.
