guide to beating the 3 strongest bosses

In 2022, Kameto and millions of players have lost their teeth on Elden Ring and its merciless combat. Two years later, a good number of them (including the streamer and CEO of the Karmine Corp) are back on the GOTY from FromSoftware. And since quite a few players have not managed to overcome this oh-so-difficult game, we have decided to give you a little help which will be more than welcome during 3 formidable battles. Although the list could be much longer (and is sometimes open to debate depending on your character), it’s still a good idea.

01

Placidusax, dragon lord

We start very strong with an enemy which, although not obligatory, deserves to be faced. For what ? Quite simply because the rewards it gives are worth their weight in peanuts. And because, if we play Elden Ring, it’s obviously also for the challenge that certain fights offer (and in this little game, the dragon is far from being at the bottom of the ranking).

To find it, you will have to start from around the large bridge (at Farum Azula), take the elevator to go down before dropping off a small ledge (there will be several trees on your right, go to the left, and below you, you will see a rock platform. Jump, follow the path to a platform forming an arc until you are asked to “go to sleep”). After this, a cutscene plays and the fight begins.

As in every difficult fight, the Imitative tear will be very useful for doing damage, but also and above all attracting the attention of the boss, thus letting you put in a few “free” hits. For Placidusax, it is strongly recommended to have objects and talismans granting you resistance against lightning, fire, but also physical attacks. In terms of equipment, we recommend that you be at + 10 (and above), just to be able to use (for example) the Rotten Breath. This can slowly but surely eat away at him a lot of life points. Because yes, the dragon is a big VP bag.

Once the fight starts, the good man will send lightning in your face, stay moving, and as soon as you are out of the area, use your Rotten Breath (or other spell). Your Tear should do the same and thus facilitate the activation of the dowry. At the start of the fight, Placidusax mainly uses claw attacks that are quite slow and easy to dodge, but he can also start breathing fire in front of him. For this reason, it is recommended to position yourself behind it to launch an offensive on its tail. The only other thing to watch out for at this point is his Area Of Effect attacks. If you see the ground turn red, the dragon is summoning a sort of column of lightning, go very far as quickly as possible and come back when it has exploded.

When you have done enough damage, Placidusax will fly into the air and enter P2 (phase 2). For the rest of the confrontation, he will frequently become invisible and take the opportunity to try to give you a gigantic claw swipe. You must then be extremely careful and roll at the right time. His last attack (and potentially the most devastating) consists of a combo between a gigantic laser of flames and a storm of lightning. You have to move away as much as possible, but also prevent the face to face from dragging on so that he doesn’t use it again.

02

Maliketh, the ebony blade

Don’t judge a book by its cover.

Like Placidusax, Maliketh is found in Farum Azula. Before facing him, we advise you to be around level 100. If this is not the case, unless you do a no hit run (without getting hit) you risk dying a lot of times. Regarding your items and armor pieces, there isn’t much to say except that the animal hurts a lot. You can equip Blasphemous Claw to parry one of his attacks in P2, but that’s about it. The important thing here is to be able to decipher your movements and react quickly and well..

In P1, you should know that Maliketh mainly uses his left hand to throw objects in your face and his right hand for direct hits. And in fact, you have to adapt your rolls accordingly. Left hand: dodge forward. Right hand: dodge to the side or back. Every time the boss scrapes the ground with his left hand, he’s going to throw projectiles at you, so be ready to roll forward to land a hit. Don’t be too greedy, if you are hit in close combat, the probability of death is high.

Maliketh has another dangerous attack at the start of the fight: during this one, he throws himself to the ground before creating an earthquake. Move away, but be careful as the rocks that are thrown into the air will soon fall back down.

When you have done enough damage to him, the boss switches to P2 and reveals his true face in the process. During the first phase, the opportunities to hit him are extremely rare and (relatively) not very risky, then it’s the opposite, so we cling to our controller.

From the start he jumps forward and does a very sweeping sort of sweep, so be ready to dodge, he follows up with a huge up and down swipe. If you haven’t been hit, it’s your turn to attack as the beast will then jump onto a nearby pillar. From there, the boss’s actions are punctuated by your positioning. He may attempt to use an AoE to hit you, if so, treat yourself very quickly because it does damage over time.

After this comes his most fearsome attack. Maliketh spins in the air and sends you a series of 3 arcs before falling on you, making your sword shine. Let’s be clear: if you take this hit, the fight is over. You must therefore parry (if you have the Blasphemous Claw) or roll. After this blow, he will be a little groggy, giving you the opportunity to land a few blows on him.

That’s everything you need to know about this magnificent boss. To be completely honest, it requires a lot of patience due to its rather particular attack timings. It may initially seem completely unpredictable, but rest assured, this is not the case. We still wish you good luck.

03

Malenia, sword of Miquella

Malenia is one of the hardest bosses to beat in the Elden Ring game.

You can start the fight with a normal weapon, but be aware that you’re not making it easy for yourself. For example, if you opt for a double bleeding katana, your attack timings and the weapon’s passive will help you greatly. Concerning the incantations, it is better to save them for the second phase of the confrontation. On the other hand, you can take an Icy Pot to counter his blade dance.

Malenia is not as springy as a Maliketh, so it is possible to land the first blow. Be careful though, after touching her, do two backward rolls because the lady will perform two attacks very quickly (and they are quite large). Important detail that will force you to be as clean as possible: each time she touches you, Malenia regains life points. Then, you have to pay attention to her prosthetic arm: when she activates it, she will rush towards you to perform three rapid attacks before a fourth. Even if it is tempting, you should definitely not roll backwards but on the contrary go towards her during her first movement (dodging) before rolling backwards on the fourth. Concerning his kick attack or his jump to the side, it is rather advisable to go forward to follow up with a blow.

Things get complicated when you have emptied 1/5 of his life bar. She’ll jump into the air and, before she can do her blade dance, you need to throw your ice pot. Otherwise, expect to take very, very expensive and spam dodges. Be careful not to confuse, she sometimes jumps in the air before rushing forward to carry out a thrusting attack. In these cases, jump back so you can counterattack.

Stay vigilant, and little by little, you will be able to overcome his HP bar.

Malenia boss P2 is very difficult to beat in the Elden Ring video game.

In P2, Malenia spreads her wings/petals in the air. Here you have two options: run towards it, or prepare to dodge. As the lady tries to rush at us, going in her direction, she misses us and goes behind us. If you wait for the right moment to avoid its charge, dodge a new one since a second explosion quickly takes place. After that, it’s time to use your summon to make this part of the fight easier.

Once she’s busy fighting the summon, use whatever spell you want and go on the offensive when you can. In P2, most of his shots require him to stay still, offering great opportunities for the player. You still have to stay focused, Malenia will not hesitate to use her charged attack again or a new one: she flies halfway up, dividing into small butterflies to summon duplicates of them which attack you. Shortly after, she will jump on you, so be ready to avoid her.

If you want to face him solo. Know that most of its patterns remain the same in P2however, you must be very careful with the dance of the blades and be patient before counterattacking.

You know everything. All you have to do is mount your most beautiful steed and join Kameto in the sweet kingdom of Between-earth (while waiting for Shadow of the Erdtree)
