Barely open, the Neufont tavern in Dordogne is already closed

The Neufont tavern is already closed, although it had just reopened. After three and a half years of closure, the return of this restaurant on the banks of Lake Neufont, in Saint-Amand-de-Vergt (Dordogne), was eagerly awaited. But the tavern only opened for one eveningon the day of the inauguration, May 11.

Two hour wait for a glass of wine

For two weeks, visitors passing through Lake Neufont have found the door closed. No way to eat ice cream or drink mint syrup. There have been a quarrel between the managers, who blame each other for the lack or choice of personnel. In this context, the opening day turned into a fiasco.

Around 600 people came. Everyone wanted to see what the new version of the tavern looks like. But restaurateurs found themselves completely overwhelmed. On Facebook, some customers say they have sometimes waited up to two hours to be served a glass of wine. The managers decided to close the hostel the next day.

A personnel and equipment problem, according to the agglomeration

On the side of Grand Périgueux, owner of the site, who signed a contract with the managers, we assure that it is fair a problem of lack of personnel and equipment. An elected official also mentions the weather, which is bad anyway, therefore not conducive to the activity of this type of tavern: “Given the weather, they can afford to postpone the opening”says Claudine Faure, vice-president of the agglomeration in charge of economic development.

According to her, the tavern will quickly reopen, by the beginning of June. The managers must try to resolve their quarrel at a general meeting at the end of May.
