Geneva: a collision between a car and a tram causes 2 minor injuries

The intersection between rue de Carouge and rue Pictet-de-Bock was the scene of a new accident. Sunday, shortly after 9 p.m., a collision occurred between a car and a tram 12, which had just left the Pont d’Arve stop in the direction of Bachet-de-Pesay. According to information from Geneva Public Transport (TPG), the driver of the car “did not see the approaching tram”.

It struck the right side of the vehicle. Propelled against the safety barriers, the car found itself “straddling” the sidewalk. “The incident left two people lightly injured in the tram,” says François Mutter, TPG communications manager. These are people who were at the front.” “An ambulance was dispatched to the scene, but no one was taken to hospital,” specifies Tiffany Cudré-Mauroux, spokesperson for the cantonal police.

The front of the tram was damaged, as well as both sides of the car. Part of the security barrier was torn off. A security perimeter was quickly established. After approximately two hours of disruption, lines 12 and 18 were restored around 11:30 p.m.
