Initially available in English, Gemini Live has been extended to French since October 3. In the future, the California-based company plans to expand into more than 40 languages. A deployment which should take place over the coming weeks.

As has been the case with OpenAI’s ChatGPT since November 2023, Gemini Live allows oral communication in an interactive manner. Among the features, users can interrupt responses, delve deeper into a topic or go back.
With the addition of French, the assistant intends to expand into the French-speaking European market. In addition to this news, Google announced that users can also set up to two languages simultaneously on their Android devices, making it easier to switch between different languages in the same conversation.

Additionally, Gemini Live is designed to integrate with Google apps like Gmail, Keep, and Calendar, allowing users to accomplish tasks directly through voice commands. For example, it is possible to ask Gemini to extract a recipe from an email and automatically add the ingredients to a shopping list in Keep.
