New Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 leak reveals tentative launch window and Geekbench performance

More information about the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 has started to trickle out via Digital Chat Station on Weibo. The leaker says the SoC is scheduled for release in mid-October, which matches Qualcomm’s announcement Qualcomm’s announcement. This tacitly tells us that the SoC of Xiaomi 15 series, the first smartphones to use silicon, could arrive earlier than usual, at least in China.

This information follows a Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 benchmark analysis of a reference sample of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 confirmed the processor’s core layout, although its performance leaves something to be desired. However, the aforementioned sample was not running at full capacity. Its dual performance cores can reach 4.0 GHz, which helped it score around 2,700 on Geekbench 6 for a single core, which is nowhere near enough to beat Apple’s silicon, but still impressive.

Likewise, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 can potentially score 10,000 points in the benchmark’s multi-core test. While that’s enough to beat anything Apple has to offer, it could face stiff competition from the MediaTek Dimensity 9400, which is rumored to replicate its predecessor’s performance-core configuration. Then there’s the Samsung Exynos 2500, manufactured to 3GAP Samsung Exynos 2500, manufactured to 3GAP.
