The three selected smartphones offer original designs. Thus, the Google Pixel 8 Pro sports a horizontal strip that encompasses all the photo sensors on the back, with a design that also integrates a temperature sensor, offering a flat profile available in blue, black, mint, or porcelain. The iPhone 15 Pro presents its photo sensors in a square at the top left, continuing the tradition of its predecessors, with a titanium frame and available in black, blue, white, and natural. The Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra, for its part, opts for a minimalist approach where the sensors simply appear to be placed on the rear shell, available in black, gray, purple, and amber, with a frame also in titanium.

In terms of dimensions, the Google Pixel 8 Pro measures 162.2×76.5×8.8 mm and weighs 213 grams. The iPhone 15 Pro is more compact at 146.6×70.6×8.25mm and a lighter weight of 187 grams, making it the smallest and lightest of the three. On the other hand, the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra comes with dimensions of 162.3x79x8.6 mm and is the heaviest at 232 grams.

Which is the most powerful and which is the best screen?

The Google Pixel 8 Pro is powered by the Tensor G3 processor, with 12GB of RAM and storage options of 128 or 256GB. The iPhone 15 Pro works with the A17 Pro, offering 8GB of RAM and options of storage ranging from 128 GB to 1 TB. Finally, the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra has the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, also with 12 GB of RAM and storage options from 256 GB to 1 TB. None of these models offer the ability to expand storage via a micro SD memory card, which emphasizes the initial choice of storage capacity as needed. In terms of raw power, the iPhone and Samsung seem to dominate with their processors and higher storage options, although the Google Pixel isn’t far behind with its AI-optimized Tensor architecture.

All three models use AMOLED displays offering 120Hz refresh rates for very smooth navigation and animations. The Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra has the largest screen with a diagonal of 6.8 inches, followed by the Pixel 8 Pro at 6.7 inches, and the iPhone 15 Pro at 6.1 inches. In terms of brightness, the Samsung shines with a peak of 2600 cd/m², the Pixel at 2400 cd/m², and the iPhone at 2000 cd/m². In addition, the Samsung mobile has a more efficient anti-reflective treatment than its current competitors. All three offer very high quality visual experiences with support for HDR content.

What configurations for photos and what connectivity?

The Google Pixel 8 Pro and Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra feature three main sensors, with a resolution of up to 200 megapixels for the Samsung’s main sensor, which is significantly higher than the 50 megapixels of the Pixel’s main sensor. The iPhone 15 Pro, on the other hand, uses four sensors, but with lower resolutions for the telephoto sensors. However, the iPhone benefits from Apple’s advanced image processing technology. Based on resolution alone, the Samsung might seem superior, but each manufacturer’s software optimization plays a crucial role in the final photo quality. Apple offers the most beautiful photos, followed very closely by the Google mobile and then the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra which offers very interesting zoom options, moreover.

iPhone 15 Pro

All models are 5G ready and support NFC, with notable differences in the types of Wi-Fi supported — the Pixel and Samsung offer Wi-Fi 7 versus Wi-Fi 6E for the iPhone. None of the models have a jack, but all have stereo speakers and are IP68 certified for water and dust resistance. The location of the fingerprint reader is under the screen for the Pixel and the Samsung, while the iPhone does not have one, instead using Face ID, the very effective facial recognition system.
For operation, the Pixel 8 Pro and Galaxy S24 Ultra stand out with batteries of 5050 mAh and 5000 mAh, respectively, while the iPhone 15 Pro offers a more modest capacity of 3274 mAh. In terms of charging, the Samsung outperforms with 45 watts of wired charging, compared to 30 watts for the Pixel and 27 watts for the iPhone. All three models support wireless charging, with the Pixel offering up to 23 watts, the highest of the three.
