April Steam survey shows Nvidia still dominates AMD

Steam has released its latest hardware study, and we see once again that Nvidia dominates AMD in the GPU section. The top 10 graphics cards are all from Nvidia, with the RTX 3060 desktop holding a 5.71% share, but it saw a 1.21% drop from March’s 6.92% share. The second most popular card is the desktop GTX 1650 which currently has a 4.32% share, an increase of 0.25% from the last survey.

When it comes to the most popular laptop GPU, the RTX 3060 reigns there as well, growing 0.39% compared to March’s 3.06%. The second most popular laptop graphics card is the RTX 4060 which has also seen growth and currently holds a 2.86% share. As for AMD, it is still struggling to gain popularity.

Indeed, no AMD GPU made it into the top 10, and only one secured a place in the top 20. The Steam survey indicates that it is an unspecified Radeon Graphics, which suggests it’s probably an iGPU. Its market share is currently 2.03%, an increase of 0.05% from the last report.

Of course, if you consider the graphics cards that saw growth in April, the AMD RX 6750 GRE entered the top 10 GPUs in the latest Steam survey. It’s in 8th place, with the fastest growing Nvidia RTX 4060 laptop over this period (Acer Nitro 16 with RTX 4060 currently $999.99 on Amazon).

As for other aspects highlighted by the April Steam survey, we see AMD gaining ground on the CPU side. Likewise, Windows 10 is still the most popular choice among gamers, but Windows 11 saw growth in the latest report. To learn more, check out the images below.
