Openable 180° completely flat, this versatile laptop computer certified to the American military robustness standard MIL-STD-810H and which can be recharged to 60% in 49 minutes has a sober and elegant look with its fine light silver design and lightweight which is adorned with an Asus Antimicrobial Guard coating protecting against 99% of bacteria.
This laptop PC has good connectivity including 1 USB-C, a practical HDMI video output to easily connect it to a monitor or TV for example, Wi-Fi 5 ac and Bluetooth 5.1 wireless modules for connections and remote communications, an audio port or even 2 USB 3.0 (USB 2.0 compatible) ensuring transfers are carried out up to 10 times faster than USB 2.0 if USB 3.0 devices are connected.
We appreciate being able to hide the webcam behind a shutter that can be slid in front when not in use in order to preserve privacy.
The screen is anti-reflective, which makes it more readable in a bright environment (e.g. outdoors) than a shiny panel and less tiring for the eyes over a long period of time.
The screen adopts classic specifications for the rest: a 16:9 format which lends itself well to playing videos. But also a definition of 1600×900 lower than the more precise Full HD but which offers the advantage of displaying larger elements which some prefer.
Performance, battery life of the Asus VivoBook 17 N1704YA-BX170W
The Asus VivoBook 17 N1704YA-BX170W is a relatively thin and light large format laptop intended for everyday multipurpose use offering significant storage capacity.
It benefits from SSD storage with a large capacity of 1000 GB capable of accommodating a large number of files and applications.
While it easily competes with hard drives in terms of capacity – higher than that offered by many (much more expensive) models on the market – the SSD offers several advantages. We are thinking in particular of greater robustness, lower energy consumption, silent operation or even greater velocity.
The latter implies much better responsiveness and fluidity on a daily basis for the SSD compared to a hard drive.
Starts/stops are much faster thanks to the SSD, as are processing and software launches, while arrival on online game cards is faster.
Be careful though: gamers are clearly not the target of this computer which is only suitable for playing small games. Logically lacking a dedicated graphics card given its positioning, it entrusts all graphics to the care of the Radeon Vega 7 graphics module.
We can obviously watch photos and videos thanks to the Radeon Vega 7 housed in the Ryzen 5 7430U, low consumption AMD Barcelo Refresh Hexa Core processor here coupled with a good amount of 16 GB RAM to provide good performance in everyday use, such as office automation and Internet surfing.
As for autonomy, count on around 7 hours of battery operation in light use for this computer as easily transportable as a 17-inch Ultrabook – large format not the most nomadic there is by nature – thanks to its finesse and its controlled weight .
It may interest some people looking for a very comfortable student laptop.
