This sports watch with more than a month of battery life is brought up to date

The connected watch manufacturer Coros has unveiled its Vertix 2S, a sports watch with gargantuan autonomy which benefits from some welcome new features.

In 2021, sports watch manufacturer Coros launched its Vertix 2 range, its most high-end watch to date, offering advanced features for trail running as well as hiking, running and outdoor sports. . The Coros Vertix 2 was then positioned as a convincing alternative to Garmin’s Fenix ​​watches, but at a more affordable price.

Three years later, the manufacturer released several references with hardware optimizations such as the Coros Pace 3 or the Coros Apex 2 and Apex 2 Pro. While waiting for an overhaul of its Vertix range, Coros has therefore decided to update its watch with an intermediate new product, the new Coros Vertix 2S.

As its name suggests, the Coros Vertix 2S is in line with the Vertix 2 launched in 2021 and is content with a few small new features on the hardware level, but new features that are more than welcome. The Coros Vertix 2S is notably equipped with the same heart rate sensor as the Pace 3 and Apex 2, more efficient than that of the original Vertix 2. The watch also benefits from a repositioning of the GPS antenna for more precise geolocation. Furthermore, it is (very) slightly lighter, with two grams less on the scale and is now supplied with both a silicone strap, but also with a nylon strap, for better grip on the wrist.

A watch that benefits from new software from Coros

The new Vertix 2S also benefits from the very recent software developments deployed by Coros, with the addition of mirroring of the watch screen on the smartphone, more advanced functions for climbing – and in particular a hook to a carabiner — or the use of a “Virtual Pacer” to train yourself at a certain running pace and know if you are behind or ahead of your goal.

Apart from these new features, the Vertix 2S uses the same formula as the previous Coros Vertix 2. We are therefore entitled to a rather large case of 50 mm in diameter with a transflective MIP LCD screen of 1.4 inches in diameter. The watch still benefits from Coros’ wheel-based navigation system as well as integrated mapping. For autonomy, Coros announces up to 40 days of use in standard mode, 118 hours in classic GPS and 22 hours in dual frequency GPS tracking with music.

The new Coros Vertix 2S replaces the previous Vertix 2 in the manufacturer’s range. It is available in France in three colors – blue, light gray, dark gray – at a price of 699 euros.
