Manual transmission only for 2025 Jeep Wrangler with V6 engine

Jeep has decided to simplify the mechanical offering for its Wrangler in 2025, with a decision that is to say the least surprising, namely the abandonment of the automatic transmission with the 3.6-liter V6 engine that can be served with the model.

Normally, we see the opposite happening, that is, the withdrawal of manual gearboxes. We are not complaining about this.

So the eight-speed automatic transmission that came with the V6 will only be found with the four- or eight-cylinder engine versions of the model.

The 3.6-liter V6 still offers 285 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. That’s similar to what the 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine offers (270 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque), but much less than what the plug-in hybrid version of the model offers, still with the same engine (375 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque).

That’s obviously less than the 470 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque offered by the 6.4-liter Hemi V-8 in the Rubicon 392, but that engine’s days are numbered.

Otherwise, there are a few other changes to the Wrangler lineup for 2025, including the fact that Jeep now offers power window locks as standard. A new paint color (’41) is inspired by the olive green made famous by early Jeeps that served in World War II.

Pricing for the 2025 versions has not yet been announced.
