Firefox 125: everything that changes

Firefox has just made the new update of its browser available: Firefox 125.01. Beyond the usual security problem resolutions, some new features are also included.

A new feature in the PDF viewer

Firefox offers a new tool for its PDF file viewer. It is now possible to highlight text in pdf files. This feature is gradually appearing among Firefox users, as part of a “phased rollout”. This is Firefox’s way of testing its new features and receiving feedback as the deployment progresses in order to optimize the user experience.

Improved video streaming quality

With AV1 codec support for streaming content, playback of videos available for streaming. Users will be entitled to smoother and sharper content.

Simplified tab management

Firefox 125.01 brings an improvement to tab management. Indeed, the Firefox View feature, which allows access to tabs open on other devices and recent history. From now on, the tab search is more precise. It’s also possible to see which tabs are playing media with discreet tab indicators. This will notably allow users to activate or reactivate the sound in the tabs.

Other more discreet improvements are added in the update. Firefox will now more systematically block downloads from URLs considered “unreliable”. Concerning the URL bar, a new functionality has emerged. When you copy a URL to your clipboard and open the search bar, an autocomplete result will appear.
