Defending champions Manchester City dropped points in the English Premier League for the second time in a row on Saturday. A week after the 2-2 draw against runner-up Arsenal, the “Citizens” couldn’t get past a 1-1 draw at Newcastle United on Saturday. Arsenal used the assist to draw level with the league leaders on points with a 4-2 home win against Leicester City, which was only secured in stoppage time.

Left-back Joško Gvardiol gave City the lead after a pass from Jack Grealish and a hook in the penalty area (35th). Newcastle managed to equalize with a penalty from Anthony Gordon (58th). The England striker was brought down by City goalkeeper Ederson himself.

Arsenal lost a 2-0 lead against Leicester. Gabriel Martinelli (20th) and Leandro Trossard (45th + 1) had given the favorites the lead at home, James Justin responded with a brace (47th, 63rd). The “Gunners” threw everything forward in the finish and were rewarded after a corner by Trossard (96th). The Belgian had been excluded the previous week against City. Kai Havertz scored the final point after a counterattack (101′).

Chelsea also won 4-2, Cole Palmer single-handedly shot his team to success against Brighton. The English team player scored all four of the Blues’ goals before the break, including a flawless hat trick (21st, 28th/penalty, 31st) and the goal to make the final score (41st). Chelsea are only one point behind ManCity and Arsenal, but like the top duo, they were overtaken by Liverpool in the evening.
