Old intimate photo of Colombian footballer and his wife released in extortion attempt

Faced with blackmail, they did not want to give in. Colombian footballer Rafael Pérez and his wife Angie Jiménez were the victims of an extortion attempt, as they jointly revealed on Tuesday in a video published on their social networks.

Following the theft of the Junior FC defender’s partner’s mobile phone, the criminals demanded a sum of money to not publicly post on the internet a private photo of the couple in the middle of sexual intercourse.

“We certainly did not want to accept”

The latter refused to give in to blackmail, and the very personal photo actually ended up on the web, causing some turmoil in South America, where the player played during his career (Colombia, Argentina, Brazil).

In the video, Rafael Pérez, 34 years old and with almost 500 professional games under his belt, explains: “We received information that an intimate photo of us was circulating, a photo that, to explain the context, dates back about six or seven years. (…) It is the result of a robbery that my wife was the victim of at the time and, as a result of that, she has received several attempts at extortion for this image and we certainly did not want to accept it.”
