The New Zealand-born pillar has been recalled by his coach Tevita Tu’ifua to play in a Pacific Nations Cup match. Already selected 34 times with Tonga, Tameifuna is a core player in the Sea Eagles’ selection. The imposing pillar (1.88m; 151kg) has already played in two World Cups, he even scored two tries in the last edition in France. At 33, he will surely want to make his teammates shine on the occasion of this new competition format, where Tonga will be pitted against their Samoan and Fijian neighbors in a group, before the former is pitted against his counterpart in the second group.
