Less than 24 hours after his triumph on the Champs-Élysées, Jonas Vingegaard has already left the French capital and was in Belgium on Monday afternoon. Why Belgium? On his way to the Netherlands, where he will celebrate his success on the Tour de at the racing service of his team Jumbo Vismathe Dane stopped in Herentals, where lives Van Aert. As a reminder, the Belgian had left the Round on the morning of the 18th stage, to join his wife, who was about to give birth. And a few hours later, he witnessed the birth of his second son, Jérôme. During this visit, Vingegaard took the opportunity to offer a yellow jersey to the newborn.

Jonas Vingegaard, big winner of this 110th Tour de France

Vingegaard: “I hope to come back next year to win a third time”

A year after its first success on the Tour de France, Jonas Vingegaard doubled the bet! Showing (almost) no signs of weakness throughout the three weeks of racing, the Dane from Jumbo Visma struck two blows with clubs on this Round, during stages 16 and 17, which allowed him to repeat this feat. Surrounded by the best team, but also by being the strongest in the mountains and in the time trial, Vingegaard was undoubtedly the strongest of this 110th edition and fully deserves this victory.

“I feel proud and happy to win this race for the second time”said Vingegaard at the finish of this 21st stage. “It’s totally crazy, with the number of Danish spectators who have come here. I have to thank everyone who supported me to get here, my family but also Denmark as a whole. It’s been a long journey, and at the same time it has gone by so fast. Day after day this race was difficult, but it was also a great battle with Tadej, I enjoyed it every day. I hope to come back next year to win a third time… or at all. case try. That’s my plan.”
