Manchester City recruited the Egyptian Omar Marmoush on Thursday, current second top scorer in the German championship with Eintracht Frankfurt, to diversify his options at the center-forward post, the Citizens announced in a press release.

The prolific 25 -year -old attacker is committed to four and a half seasons, said Manchester City, until the summer of 2029. The amount of the transfer was not revealed. According to the German and British presses, it reaches between 70 and 80 million euros (including 5 million euros in bonuses).
This is the third winter recruit of the Mancunian club, after the Uzbek Abdukodir Khusanov and Brazilian Vitor Reis central defenders.

The signing of the Egyptian striker intervenes a few hours after the Citizens defeat on the lawn of SG (4-2), which plunges the English club (8 points) on the verge of elimination in the Champions League, with the ‘Obligation to win in a week at home against Bruges to qualify in extremis for the dams.

Omar Marmoush arrives on a lining or as a competitor of Erling Haaland, a number one choice and almost unique for coach Pep Guardiola this season, who extended his lease last week with the Citizens until the summer of 2034.

The Spanish manager had no other real option since the departure of Julian Alvarez last summer at Atlético Madrid. The club also sold the promising Liam Delap, who left for Ipswich.

Marmoush brought him the Eintracht Frankfurt in third place in the Bundesliga (36 points, nine less than the Munich leader) with his 15 goals (one less than Harry Kane) and his 9 assists.

The Egyptian international made his classes in Wolfsburg, where he started by playing in the reserve team for three seasons, before joining the first team in the summer of 2020.
The Basse-Saxi club lent him a season and a half (Sankt Pauli in the 2nd division and Stuttgart in the Bundesliga) before letting him go free in the summer of 2023 in Frankfurt.
