The Las Vegas Raiders have reached an agreement with Super Bowl champion Pete Carroll to become the team’s next head coach, multiple media outlets are reporting.
Carroll reportedly agreed to a three-year contract with an option for a fourth season.
Carroll, 73, was the head coach of the Seattle Seahawks for 14 seasons, from 2010 to 2023, leading the team to two Super Bowl appearances and a title in 2013.
Carroll posted a record of 137-89-1 during his time in Seattle.
In 18 seasons as a head coach in the NFL, Carroll is 170-120-1 with the Seahawks, New England Patriots and New York Jets.
-Next season, Carroll will become the oldest head coach in NFL history. The title currently belongs to Romeo Crennel, who was 73 years and 199 days old when he coached his last game on January 3, 2021 with the Houston Texans. Carroll will celebrate his 74th birthday on September 15.
The Raiders finished last season with a 4-13 record and finished last in the AFC West division. They fired head coach Antonio Pierce after only one full season at the helm of the team. Las Vegas hasn’t reached the playoffs since 2021 and has fired three head coaches (Pierce, Josh McDaniels, Jon Gruden) in the last four seasons.
