Every year, more than 1200 pilot duos under 28 get into a Renault 4 to take part in the 4L Trophy. A solidarity orientation rally of 6000 km between and Morocco. This year, Carla Madeleine and Eva Guelle, two teammates from Douvres Basket Cœur de Nacrewill be on the starting line in (Pyrénées-Atlantiques) on February 19, 2025.

We’re not quite ready yet. We are still missing a little material. For the preparation of the car, we were helped by an enthusiast, because we know nothing about it.

Still looking for sponsorship

Participate in such an event, it costs money. Between the purchase of the vehicle, the financing of the trip until departure, the equipment… The duo has already collected several sponsors to help them. “We would like to have three or four more sponsors,” says Carla Madelaine. We would like to recover around 2,000 euros more. »

In parallel with the rally, the duo put together a file to participate in a humanitarian initiative. The candidacy of the two basketball players was not accepted, but that will not spoil their experience.

We are a month away from departure. We have to be in Biarritz on February 19, so we will leave one or two days before. The excitement is building.

One goal: to enjoy

On the 4L Trophy, there are crews who want to perform and complete the course in record time, and there are others who want to enjoy the experience and take their time. The CaenTrelles duo is in this second category. No stopwatch pressure. “We want to take our time, while respecting deadlines for safety,” explains Carla Madelaine. The first pressure is the departure of the ferry for Morocco. We hope to have a night in Spain before boarding. »

Go on an adventure in the middle of the Moroccan deserteven if everything is minimally supervised, it can be worrying. For the crews, as for their loved ones.

It’s more our parents who are worried. They know we are two clumsy people. I am very happy to do this with Eva.

The crews will have to reach Algeciras (Spain) from Biarritz before boarding for cross the Strait of Gibraltar between February 22 and 23, 2025. They will then have four days of travel in Morocco.
