the essential
The dead calm of Saturday was followed by a lively Sunday with the Rodez grand prix and the qualifiers for the Villefranche precision shooting sector.
The same goes for Aveyron pétanque as it does for Rodez Aveyron football matches in Ligue 2: there is always something going on. Well, almost always. And so, we don't get bored.
This third weekend of the year was supposed to be theoretically peaceful. Nay! Four events were subjectively counted. Starting, Saturday, with the absence of any official competition in the department, where, sometimes, tests collide. Simple question: in this era of everything digital and even better with the advent of a president of CD 12, Gilles Enjalbert, keen on digital, would it not be possible, in order to avoid dips and, conversely, doubles or triplets, to put online support available to clubs where everyone could position themselves on dates according to their wishes, but also competition and holes and overloads in the calendar?
Santos-Mallet, forces 6 et 30 !
Chronologically, the second major event of this third Saturday of January 2025 relates to the new victory of the Samuel Santos-Florent Mallet duo in Aurillac. Who with Louis Charbonnel, who with Julien Archimbeaud or who, again, like this time, with their new club partner, the Guasois defector, champion of Aveyron in doubles in 2023, Antony Bernal, the two friends have just aligned their seventh consecutive victory in an official competition, and notably the sixth (yes, the 6th!) at the Tronquières bowling alley. And to do this, they have won thirty games in a row (no less!) in what borders, today, on their garden!
-Meanwhile, finally a few hours later, their former teammate, Dorian Théry, by winning in the eliminatory of the Villefranche-de-Rouergue sector of precision shooting attested that his transfer from the banks of the Lot to those of the Aveyron had not affected his performance in an exercise where ten days earlier, he missed the mark during the Trophée des Villes in Sin-le-Noble, in the North, under the colors of… Espalionnais.
However, the strong image of this weekend remains, without doubt, the participation of some 126 triplets, Sunday, in the fourth and final qualifying stage of the 21st Grand Prix of Rodez, at the René-Blanc bowling alley. An influx in line with the previous stages of an event that is definitely very popular with the Occitan people. Even though some were able to perform outdoors and therefore not be reluctant to face temperatures that were, if not freezing, at least unsuitable for the practice of pétanque.
All this to say that between a calm Saturday and an effervescent Sunday, Aveyron experienced a weekend of complete contrasts.
