Noussair Mazraoui is under fire from critics. The British press attacked the Moroccan international after Manchester United’s defeat against Brighton (3-1), Sunday evening at Old Trafford, during the 22nd day of the Premier League.

The English newspaper Stretty News highlighted that Mazraoui bears part of the responsibility for two of the three goals conceded by his team. According to the publication, the player covered his side poorly and failed to deal with the balls played behind him, which allowed the Japanese Kaoru Mitoma, a Brighton player, to score the second goal.

The same report states that Mazraoui was also involved in the first goal. Mitoma would have exploited the weakness on the Red Devils’ right side by overtaking Mazraoui before passing the ball to Yankuba Minteh, who opened the scoring.

Furthermore, Cameroonian goalkeeper André Onana made a blatant error during this meeting, allowing Brighton to score their third goal thanks to Georginio Rutter.

Mazraoui earned a rating of 6.3 on specialist platform SofaScore, making him Manchester United’s sixth lowest-rated player in this match, highlighting the poor performance of the entire team. The Atlas Lion played 84 minutes before being replaced.

This season, Mazraoui has participated in 32 matches in all competitions with Manchester United, providing two assists.
