“The patient was treated quickly and safely at the Mayotte hospital center (CHM) a few hours after his arrival in Mayotte in order to stabilize his state of health”write the authorities who deployed a “plan d’action” in order to limit the spread of the disease in the department.

In the spring, the archipelago was affected by this epidemic, with 221 cases recorded. The ARS announced at the beginning of October that the cholera epidemic was “finished”counting 5 deaths “imputable” to this one.

The current rainy season can favor the spread of the disease. This bacterial disease is transmitted through contaminated water or food. It can cause acute diarrhea and even lead to death from dehydration.
