In Revigny-sur-Ornain, on rue Pasteur, many passers-by came this Saturday afternoon. “It was marked overvoltage on my meter and I no longer had electricity,” explains a resident. “I saw black smoke,” adds a second resident.
Since 1:30 p.m., firefighters have been battling a house fire, which appears to have originated from a short circuit and the explosion of an electric meter, according to the mayor of Revigny, Pierre Burgain.
The flames started on the ground floor, quickly spreading to the first floor. The fire ravaged the entire interior of the house, making it completely uninhabitable.
The two terraced houses were also affected, the flames having been fueled by the cob in the attics.
Reinforcements requested
Around twenty firefighters from Bar-le-Duc, Revigny and Beurey-sur-Saulx were initially mobilized. They were then joined by two new vans, to reach the number of forty personnel.

The residents concerned were evacuated. The town hall offered them rehousing proposals. Residents, for their part, are mobilizing for their neighbors to “bring them a little comfort”, offering welcome, hot drinks and support.
