The 12 Super League teams resume competition on Saturday. A championship, led by a solid Lugano, which seems more open than ever with 8 teams which are only separated by… 6 points. Among them, Lausanne, Servette and Sion. RTSsport met some smiling players from Lausanne, Servette, Sion and Yverdon on Monday during Swiss Football night.
Lausanne (3rd): “It’s good if the Lausanne public starts to dream”
Best French-speaking Super League team at mid-championship, Lausanne is not yet on fire. “We are proud of the 1st round, especially of the last 3 months. We have been running at full speed. It’s good if the Lausanne public starts to dream, but I expect my players to continue to work very, very hard “explains Ludovic Magnin.
Servette (5th): “The dream is free and legitimate”
What if it was the good year for Servette? Winner of the Swiss Cup last season, the garnet club will try to continue this momentum by aiming for the championship. It remains to be seen whether he will be able to count on his technician Dereck Kutesa (11 goals this season in the Super League), who reaches the end of his contract in June. Will stay, won’t stay? “My wish is to finish the season. I don’t want to let go of my teammates during the season… But we know very well that in football you can’t control everything.”
Sion (7th): “Overall, we have always been level”
-The newly promoted player did very well during the first part of the season. “We deserve to have a peaceful season. We want to escape as quickly as possible and the best way to do that is to finish in the top-6”comments defender Numa Lavanchy. The Valais will have to do without their leader Joel Schmied who left for Cologne in the 2nd Bundesliga, but can count on the returns of Benjamin Kololli and Kreshnik Hajrizi.
Yverdon (10th): “Be ready to go into battle”
Yverdon, not spared from numerous injuries during the first half of the season, has for its part changed coach. Alessandro Mangiarratti left in December and Paolo Tramezzani was hired to keep the North Vaud club in the Super League. YS is only 2 points ahead of GC, which is a jump-off, and 4 ahead of bottom-placed Winterthur. “The coach asks us to be ready to go into battle. We are capable of beating everyone, that’s what we have to tell ourselves”explained Paul Bernardoni to our radio colleagues.
