Sada Thioub, African vice-champion with the Lions of Téranga in 2019, is going through a difficult time. The 29-year-old Senegalese striker, who had shown great potential, is struggling to regain his level and his place in the football elite.
In 2018-2019, Sada Thioub shone with Nîmes Olympique in Ligue 1, scoring three goals and providing five assists. His memorable goal against Olympique de Marseille was testament to his talent. Later, in the Angers SCO jersey, he scored a sumptuous goal against PSG of Messi and Mbappé during the 2022-2023 season. However, his performances at Saint-Étienne left no lasting memories, precipitating his downfall.
The striker has been excluded from the national team since September 2021. On the club level, things have not improved: after the end of his contract with Angers in 2023, he went into exile in Kazakhstan in March 2024, signing for one year with FC Yelimay Semey. Despite 15 matches played, his statistics (two goals and an assist) disappointed. The adventure was cut short, leaving Thioub without a club since.
With seven selections for the national team and moments of brilliance in his career, Sada Thioub had all the assets to establish himself in the long term. Today, the former Lion must take on an immense challenge to bounce back and prove that he has not said his last word.
