Mike Trésor finally played again with Burnley. But will he still stay with the Clarets?
Last summer, Burnley spent no less than 18 million to recruit Mike Treasure at Genk (until then, like Mohamed Amoura at Wolfsburg this season, he was only officially on loan). But the second most expensive incoming transfer in the club’s history struggles to prove worthy of this status.
For his first season in England, the former Limburger only started three Premier League matches at the heart of the nightmare season which led to the team’s relegation.
As for the current exercise, he only returned to competition last weekend. During the FA Cup match at Reading, he even proved decisive for the first time in the colors of Burnley, with a withdrawn cross transformed into an assist by Zian Flemming.
-About to leave this winter?
However, his situation is worrying. Given the price paid by Burnley and his contract until June 2028, he could get his playing time elsewhere in the form of a loan. According to Het Nieuwsblad, Anderlecht and La Gantoise inquired about this, but quickly encountered a categorical refusal.
This refusal does not come from the club, because management is in favor of a loan. It is Trésor himself who believes that the time has not yet come to return to play in Belgium.
