Interesting in relays, for example finishing 4th twice in mixed relays last weekend in Oberhof, the Swiss team can start to dream in color, before the World Championships in Lenzerheide, scheduled for February. And after Niklas Hartweg in recent weeks, it was Amy Baserga’s turn to shine individually.
In Bavaria, the 24-year-old from Zurich reached the podium in a World Cup event for the first time in her individual career. The three-time junior world champion in 2019 and 2021 had already smelled the air of the peaks after climbing on a box in recent seasons, but each time with one or more colleagues from the Swiss team at her side.
This time, it was all alone that she achieved the feat, having not done better than 11th place alone so far, during the 2024/2025 financial year. Baserga, impeccable in shooting with a formidable 20/20, was only beaten by the Frenchwoman Lou Jeanmonnot (0 faults) and the German Franziska Preuss (1 fault), ahead of her by 43 and 7 seconds respectively.
A little further on, the other Swiss women also offered some promises. The Grisonne Elisa Gasparin, only one fault, finished 13th just under three minutes behind. Obwalden Lena Häcki-Gross was less precise (2 faults), but fast on skis. She placed 17th at 3’14. Aita Gasparin is 25th (2 faults, at 3’44).
