The Marseille Beach Team club won the first edition of the “Open Mogador” international beach soccer tournament, played on Sunday on Essaouira beach, in the presence of a host of personalities from the world of sport, culture and media.
Initiated by the local club Amal Mogador, with the assistance of the Essaouira municipal council, this event brought together several prestigious teams from Europe and Africa, including Marseille Beach Team and Cévennes Méridionales (France), CD Fútbol Fran Mejías (Spain) and Friendship (Senegal).
At the end of three days of competition in a festive atmosphere, Marseille Beach Team won the title in a thrilling final in front of a large audience, winning against the host team Amal Mogador, with a narrow score of 7 to 5.
This international competition also shed light on the talent and exceptional individual performances of certain players, notably Ardel Emmanuel from Amal Mogador, crowned top scorer with 13 goals, the Swiss Elliott from Marseille Beach Team, named best goalkeeper, and Zohair Jabbari, also from Amal Mogador, voted best player of the tournament.
“This event is an exceptional showcase for Essaouira which confirms its vocation as a sporting and cultural destination, while offering young local talents the opportunity to compete against international players,” indicated the president of the Amal Mogador club, Rachid Eddaraâ. in a statement to MAP at the end of this competition.
Mr. Eddaraâ also expressed his gratitude to the partners and participating teams, as well as to the public who “largely contributed to the success of this tournament”, expressing his wish to see this event established as an unmissable annual meeting of the beach soccer on an international scale.
With the participation of more than 26 international players, this tournament offered a high-quality spectacle, enhanced by a festive atmosphere and a large turnout of the public who came to appreciate sporting performances of an exceptional level.
