Magnificent winner of the Bormio downhill on December 28, Alexis Monney (24 years old) spoke at length to RTS sport. The Fribourgeois is living a dream and is looking forward to competing in the prestigious Wengen events this weekend.
“Since I was 2-3 years old, I have been in the skiing world, so I enjoy and love what I doslides the skier from Châtel-Saint-Denis. It has always been a dream for me to compete in the World Cup, to race down legendary slopes…“But Alexis Monney admits that he has not yet fully realized the significance of his victory on the Stelvio of Bormio.”I think I will especially become aware of it this week in Wengen“, he adds.
Because yes, expectations will certainly be high around him. “But not necessarily only around me, I imagine for the whole teamsmiles the Fribourgeois. I think it’s a logical continuation given the start of the season made by the Swiss team.“
This is good news, because Alexis Monney is delighted to do battle on the Lauberhorn. “Among the legendary races, in my eyes, there are Wengen and Kitzbühel. I would love to win them both. These are the most beautiful classics.”
