Throughout the tenth edition of the Vendée Globe, the most prestigious of nautical races, “Le Temps” will offer an immersive story by journalist Virginie Troussier, who will navigate between strategy, trajectory, weather conditions and confidences from participants. A series designed as both a sporting and philosophical exploration of the relationship between the sailor and the ocean.
Our series
There are departures and arrivals. In ocean racing, these are moments of high tension, fascinating. We are left with images of masts pointing to the horizon, the regret of a wake closing in and the expression of great beauty. The final sprints are also an opportunity to experience the demands of the competition.
After two months of racing on the world’s oceans, only ten hours separate Charlie Dalin (Macif Santé Prévoyance) from Yoann Richomme (Paprec Arkéa). It’s a hand-to-hand fight, a hull-to-coast attack. No failure is allowed. We imagine the strained muscles, the last resources requested, the crumpled nerves of the sailors, on the verge of rupture. Only passion allows this endurance.
