The World Cup, Francis’ pontifical mass, matches from the Olympic football tournament, a few handfuls of giant concerts by local or international stars and all of the Olympique de Marseille home matches… The activity of the Stade-Vélodrome has been very successful over the last two years. Despite this dynamism, its deputy general director, Martin d’Argenlieu, 53, has just been abruptly dismissed by OM.

This surprise revocation was announced to the teams before the Christmas holidays. She abruptly concludes a presence of more than ten years at the head of the largest venue in after the Stade de France. Mr. d’Argenlieu’s departure comes just a few months before the official end of this recognized professional’s mandate, initially scheduled for May 2025.

If the Stade-Vélodrome remains municipal property, OM won exclusive operation in 2018. Under the leadership of its former deputy general director, Stéphane Teissier, the Marseille club decided, in May 2023, to outsource the management of this 67,000-seat venue by creating the Mars 360 events sector. This 100% subsidiary is responsible for developing activities profitable in the Vélodrome, but also outside the stadium. Without worrying about Ligue 1 matches, which OM manages live and for which the club pays, for the 2024-2025 season, a rent of 8.13 million euros to the city of Marseilles.
