It was anything but a surprise. This Friday, January 10, the Sporting Club de Bastia hosts AC Ajaccio as part of the French Ligue 2 football championship. Once again, the Ajaccian team will not be able to count on the support of its supporters at the Armand Cesari stadium in Furiani.
In a press release dated this Thursday, January 9, the prefecture of Haute-Corse announced that “by ministerial decree dated January 6, 2025, a ban on individual or collective travel was established against any supporter of the ACA or behaving as such between the municipalities of the department of Corse-du-Sud and the communes of Furiani and Bastia for the whole day of January 10“
Risk of “disturbing public order”
To strengthen security around this meeting, the Haute-Corse prefecture has also taken several measures due to “of a real and serious risk of disturbances to public order due to tensions existing between supporters of the two clubs.”
As such, a prefectural decree dated December 27, 2024 specifies that “any person claiming to be a supporter of the ACA or behaving as such will not be able to drive or park on public roads in the defined sectors (immediate proximity to the Furiani stadium, downtown Bastia) from Friday January 10, 2025 from 6 a.m. until Saturday January 11, 2025 at 12 h 00.”
-Furthermore, the prefectural authority also emphasizes that “in these same sectors and times, the possession, transport and use of firecrackers, smoke bombs and pyrotechnic articles are prohibited“

A security device deployed which will, according to the authorities, “adapted accordingly with reinforced mobilization of law enforcement, and specific support for mobile forces, in order to ensure compliance with the prohibitions taken and the smooth running of this event: the capture, recording and transmission of images by means of cameras installed on aircraft without crew on board will be in this context authorized for the evening of January 10, 2025.”
Measures which aim, again according to the prefecture of Haute-Corse, “to allow this meeting to take place in the best possible conditions and in a sporting spirit.”
