Genève-Servette wants to rebel, and you can feel it on the ice. The Garnets played quite a match this evening in front of their home crowd, but in the end, the points went away with the opposing team. The fault lies with a confident CP Berne who smiles on success. Like the first goal where Moser launches a harmless shot towards Robert Mayer. Unfortunately, the puck hits Roger Karrer’s skate and ends up in the net (11th). Three minutes later, it was Ritzmann who doubled the lead with a very average shot but the Geneva goalkeeper was hidden (14th). 2-0 for Berne while both teams created the same number of chances.

Coming back from the first break, the men from the Treille/Franzén duo really left everything on the ice. Once again, they were very restless in front of the Berne nets but failed to find the solution. It was Vincent Praplan, and volley, who put the GSHC back on track. In the 37th, a shot from Sami Vatanen hit Wütrich and went up in the air, “Praps” managed to touch the puck in the air to put it in the bottom. This goal would give us an interesting third period.

But as too often, the hockey gods were not Garnet this evening. The visitors had no chances in the entire final third but managed to score from their only goal chance. Czarnik left Robert Mayer no chance with a shot of absolute precision (54th). From that moment on, the Eagles really harassed the opposing offensive zone. 28-4 shooting statistics in the last 20 minutes. However, the score reduction came too late even if it gave hope to the entire rink. Teemu Hartikainen was able to push the puck into the net with 22 seconds left on the clock.

This defeat hurts, but GSHC will win more games than it will lose by playing like this. Reaction tomorrow in Zug!
