Created 18 years ago, the Adour Dax Basket gives color to local life in Candresse. Born from the merger between the Basketball section of ASPTT Dax and the Candresse-Narrosse club, it has grown a lot since then. Chaired by Corinne Dulouat, the ADB now has 350 members, a mini-basketball school certified by the Sports Federation, a men’s team in National 2 (NM2) and a women’s team remaining undefeated this season in Regional 1. We can no longer count its rewards. Meeting with J
Meeting with Jean-Baptiste Oyhanondo, technical director
“I have been with the ADB club since its creation. Until September 2024, I was an employee of the club as a sports instructor, I was in charge of training for the basketball school from U9 to the U18 category, at the departmental, regional and national levels, as well as as the coaching of several teams including the U15M Elite playing at the highest national level. I am now technical director of the club. »
What are the specific challenges to be faced by a men’s team playing in Nationale 2?
“Above all, we want to continue the composition of this squad with several young people from our training. Then, it is to succeed in perpetuating the level of this team in NM2 and to settle there. Maintain the enormous public enthusiasm and partnerships. Moreover, we are happy with the unfailing support of Grand Dax which, since our rise to NM2, has granted us an annual subsidy of €70,000. »
What are the ADB’s objectives for this season?
“To give the younger players the desire to follow in the footsteps of their elders and be part of the first half of the league rankings, and place us in the Top 5. It would be an incredible performance, with a positive balance of matches won/matches lost (more than 13 victories!). We hope to do well in the Coupe de France and win the Super Coupe Sud-Ouest.”
What advice do you give to your players to manage pressure during crucial matches?
“I talk to them about the values of our club. Players must rely on the work done beforehand during training. Teammates must trust each other, be united, combative and share the ball at all times. »
How do you see the future of basketball in NM2?
“The NM2 division, 4th best level in France, is at an almost semi-professional level and includes professional players. In our club, we have decided to only have players with a professional life on the side, so that basketball remains above all a leisure activity and a good activity of course, but not a profession for a player. We live in a “Basketball” territory that unites all generations. This asset is our strength. »
