“It is clear that I am not Rafa, my legacy will be much less important, so to speak.” After a bit of formality, Alexander Bublik finally came out with the sulphate, in an interview with the Russian channel Match : “What happened with Andy Murray and Rafael Nadal is a real circus. I can’t call it anything else!”

“These people have succeeded in everything,” continued the 33e global. Even we tennis players gawked at them in the locker room. And then you see one of them bald and old… It’s clear he’s not the same anymore and never will be again. In my opinion, it’s even a shame, it’s not a circus. It would probably be more correct to say that.”

Bublik believes that some of the greatest players in the history of the game should have bowed out long before, and that their end was a bit sad. He also had a thought for Murray, former coach of Novak Djokovic when he had just retired from the professional circuit.

“These are attempts to cling to something that no longer exists, echoes of the past,” he told the Russian media. I think that’s a problem. I hope that won’t be the case for me, but I can’t say for sure.”

He may ask for advice on the subject during a future tournament. The atmosphere in the locker room is likely to be interesting.
