Things are going well for the Canadian these days. The club is coming off a five-game road trip in which it defeated the last four Stanley Cup championship teams.
Well, he also lost against powerful Blackhawks… but it wouldn’t be a CH trip without an inexplicable defeat, right?
That said, the club’s victory over the Avalanche was particularly impressive. The Canadian wasn’t particularly dominant that night, but Jakub Dobes was solid and the club’s attack got up at the right time.
And at a press briefing, the Avalanche coach gave the Canadian some love with a phrase that we haven’t often heard in recent years when talking about CH:
The Canadian is currently among the elite in the NHL at creating offense. –Jared Bednar
Bednar finds that defensively, his club did a good job of limiting CH that evening. That said, it is a source of pride for him since he finds that it is not easy to limit the Canadian.
The absence of Patrik Laine (who will also miss tonight’s game) may have helped, but it doesn’t matter: seeing the Avalanche coach, who is well placed to recognize an explosive offense, extolling the merits of the CH’s attack is a great mark of recognition for the work of Martin St-Louis and his club.
Bednar also recognized that his club had difficulty creating things offensively against the CH defense. Once again, we feel that Bednar was impressed by the Habs.
Obviously, the Canadian is far from having the talent and striking power of a club like the Avalanche, but if the club was able to impress Bednar without having Laine, it clearly demonstrates that the club has an offensive foundation which has Not bad pace.
And let’s remember that with a victory this evening, CH would go to bed being in the top-8 in the East (and therefore in a position to make the playoffs). It’s no surprise that all this is happening as the Canadian’s offensive power begins to be recognized across the league.
Prolongation
Let’s also remember that next season, the Canadian will have Ivan Demidov who will add a ton of offensive punch.
The base is already solid… but with Demidov, it has the potential to go to another level.
