It was in the air, it’s now official: Olivier Deman is joining Antwerp. The former Cercle de Bruges defender is Antwerp’s first winter recruit.
Deman will end the season at Antwerp
The Red Devil (4 caps) is on loan from Werder Bremen until the end of the season. According to Gazet van Antwerpen, the Antwerp club does not have a purchase option. Deman will therefore return to Germany next summer.
With the arrival of Deman, Antwerp anticipates the departure of Ayrton Costa. The Argentine defender is on the verge of being sold to Boca Juniors.
Two other reinforcements expected
Jonas De Roeck should be able to count on Deman for the Cup match against Union. The latter will not, however, be the only new player to arrive at the Great Old this month. Indeed, the Antwerp club is still looking for a goalkeeper and an attacker. The name of Andreas Hountoundji was notably mentioned, but the Franco-Beninese striker from Burnley prefers to join Standard.
