Yet free to commit elsewhere this winter since his registration was refused by La Liga and the Spanish Football Federation, Dani Olmo has no intention of leaving Barça, Marca assures this Monday.
Faithful among the faithful, Dani Olmo (26 years old), trained at the Masia, sees his loyalty tested by the difficulties of Barça, weighed down by its financial setbacks, to register him definitively within its workforce. The Spanish Football Federation and La Liga decided last week to reject FC Barcelona's request to re-register the Spain international for the second half of the season, confirming the decision of the Barcelona Commercial Court.
Last summer, Barça narrowly obtained the registration of the transfer of Dani Olmo under a regulation which allows clubs to replace players absent for long periods. Barça obtained a reprieve there, taking advantage of the long-term injury of defender Andreas Christensen, but the Catalan club now no longer has a joker.
Olmo doesn't want to hear about leaving
Fully aware of the complexity of the situation, Dani Olmo has no intention of leaving Barcelona, even if it means having to wait several more weeks without being able to play, Marca understands. The player being virtually released from his contract, this new twist in this thorny issue opens the possibility that he leaves and joins another club in January.
However, according to Marca, Dani Olmo remains insensitive to the different approaches observed in recent hours, at the initiative of clubs who would like to take advantage of the situation. No other scenario is envisaged than that of continuing under the orders of the German Hansi Flick, insists the Madrid-based daily.
According to Marca, Dani Olmo has not received any concrete offer. Only informal efforts by intermediaries and representatives to probe the player's intentions were noted by Marca. Dani Olmo has scored six goals and delivered one assist, in all competitions, in fifteen matches played with Barça since the start of the season.
