Seasonal flu: A peak expected at the end of January, authorities call for prevention
The coordinator of the national program to combat seasonal influenza and respiratory diseases, Dr Hakim El Ghard, said today, Sunday January 5, 2025, that it is expected that the peak of seasonal influenza will be reached at the end of the current month and at the beginning of next February.
In a statement on national radio, Dr El Ghard called for vigilance and to follow all preventive measures.
He also highlighted the appearance of the virus responsible for bronchiolitis and the seasonal flu virus, adding that the virus recently appeared in China is now included in the surveillance system.
-Dr El Ghard urged people with chronic illnesses and pregnant women to get vaccinated against seasonal flu.
It should be recalled that the Ministry of Health called, in a press release, to respect simple and effective preventive measures, including washing hands regularly, wearing masks in public places, ventilating homes and closed spaces, and get vaccinated against seasonal viruses.
