The Canadian has won again!
Martin St-Louis’ men beat the Lightning, who were visiting the Bell Center last night.
But there were also seven other games presented in the NHL:
1: It’s discord in New York
The Rangers have been doing better lately and were trying to continue their momentum against the Sens.
And that’s exactly what they did.
The New York team won by a score of 5-0 and Igor Shesterkin collected a shutout in a second consecutive game.
The Rangers goalkeeper is hot right now:
In the match, we also remember this melee which occurred in the third period.
Things stirred up in front of the net after Brady Tkachuk hit Shesterkin… And the latter responded himself by going to confront the Senators captain.
It looked like a circus:
I can’t talk about Rangers’ victory without mentioning the magnificent goal scored by… Matt Rempe.
Yes, you read that correctly.
The Rangers colossus scored at the top of the net with a beautiful backhand feint after receiving a pass from his teammate in the slot.
He made himself look like Connor McDavid:
2: Corey Perry scores with nachos on the ice
The Oilers had a big challenge hosting the powerful Capitals at home.
Leon Draisaitl opened the scoring with his 34th goal of the season… And it was a good one:
The Capitals scored three unanswered goals and the Oilers were losing 3-1 in the third period at one point.
That’s when Corey Perry stood up to score… While there were nachos on the ice.
Again, you read correctly:
Perry’s goal wasn’t enough, however.
The Capitals won 3-2 and Pierre-Luc Dubois played an important role in his club’s victory.
The Quebecer had a goal and an assist in the match.
3: A first for KK in a long time
Ah, Jesperi Kotkaniemi…
We rarely hear about him in Carolina lately, but he stood out in his game yesterday.
The Hurricanes were in Dallas to face the Stars and they were able to win 2-1, thanks to two goals scored by KK:
-It’s been a long time since Kotkaniemi scored two goals in the same match.
The last time was March 14, 2023…
Note that the former Canadian has now collected 22 points (nine goals) in 48 games since the start of the season in Carolina. This is not exceptional…
4: Spectacular comeback for the Preds
We thought we would see a thaw in Nahsville.
The Sharks still led by a score of 5-1 against the Preds at one point in the game, after all…
But the Preds stood up and came from behind.
They scored not one, not two, not three, not four, not five… But six consecutive goals to escape with victory (7-5).
Barron notably participated in the score by scoring his 3rd of the season:
The Sharks are young and that’s part of the learning process.
That said, when you lead by a score of 5-1, you are not really not supposed to lose the match…
Jonathan Marchessault was excellent in his club’s comeback. He finished his night of work with four points (including a goal) and he was the offensive engine of the Preds during the game.
Note also that this is a fourth victory in a row for the Predators.
5: The Sabers can say thank you to their goaltender
Nothing is going well in Vancouver anymore.
It’s difficult in this context for the Canucks to perform well… But hey. It takes what it takes!
Elias Pettersson put his problems aside and scored his 11th goal of the season:
The score was 3-2 late in the game and the Canucks attempted one last push.
But Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen didn’t want to know anything: the Sabers goalie stopped the puck at the sound of the siren to allow his team to win 3-2.
The sequence deserves to be seen and rewatched:
The defeat is difficult to swallow for the Canucks because they are supposed to beat the Sabres.
They have the talent to be good… But there are too many problems in the room right now.
Prolongation
