Joshua Zirkzee is in a bind at Manchester United. Jeered by his own public recently, he is on the Red Devils’ sales list.
Last summer, Joshua Zirkzee made the big jump from Bologna to Manchester United for 42 million euros after emerging in Serie A. But the former RSC Anderlecht striker has so far failed to convince that he was worth the amount spent on him.
Zirkzee has played 27 matches in all competitions and scored 3 goals but is struggling to establish himself, whether under Erik ten Hag or, since his arrival, Ruben Amorim. Recently he may have hit rock bottom when he was taken off after half an hour to boos at Old Trafford.
The English press is now announcing that Ruben Amorim has a shortlist of players who could leave Manchester United this winter and, unsurprisingly, Joshua Zirkzee is on it. He rubbed shoulders with Viktor Lindelöf, Casemiro and Christian Eriksen in particular.
According to La Repubblica, he could find a way out in Italy. Juventus would be interested and would monitor his situation closely. Thiago Motta, coach of the Old Lady, would like to find the striker he knew in Bologna at the time.
Problem: Zirkzee is under contract until 2029, and a transfer would be very expensive. A loan seems unlikely because ManU needs to replenish its coffers to strengthen itself this winter and get out of the rut. To be continued…
