What happens next will not be easy for the CH. Until the Super Bowl, the Canadian’s schedule will not be easy.
Samuel Montembeault and Jakub Dobes will have to be alert to guard the Canadian #DansLeMix for the rest of things. But we have to wonder who will play when.
After all, now that Cayden Primeau is down, goaltender #2 can play a little more often.
We must keep in mind that Monty is the club’s #1 goalkeeper and that we must not burn him. We must also keep in mind that he will not have time off in February, he who will go to the Four Nations Showdown.
And above all we must keep in mind that Dobes will have to play so as not to heat up the bench, but that he will also have to be placed in good conditions for him and to help the club win.
That’s several things to watch out for.
Dobes, who is scheduled to play at least once a week, should play tomorrow’s game, in my opinion. A back-to-back Chicago and Denver encounter awaits the club and Monty is a logical candidate for Saturday.
On January 6, it should be Montembeault. And then, we’ll have to wait until January 10 and 11 to see a doubleheader: Friday in Washington and Saturday against the Stars at home.
I would be surprised if Montembeault does not play at home on Saturday evening, January 11.
Afterwards, it gets a little more complicated. After all, there will only be one other doubleheader between now and the end of January: January 18 and 19, at the Bell Centre.
Expect, if everyone is healthy, to see the Quebecer play against the best team on Saturday night, in a duel between two rivals… and to see Dobes against the bad Rangers the next day.
But otherwise?
A first, more complicated decision will come just before the doubleheader, during the short trip to Salt Lake City and Dallas. Will Dobes get the game against Utah HC? Will both games go to the starter? I would give one to Dobes, considering the travel.
On January 21, 23 and 25, there will be three games, including one on the road against Detroit on Thursday. It is logical to think that this is the match that Dobes will have during the week.
Jets and Wild at home before heading to California without a game on Saturday night? I give the Jets to Montembeault and the Wild to Dobes.
Afterwards, I start by giving the match in Anaheim to Montembeault before dividing the matches in San Jose and Los Angeles between the two guys. Probably I’d go with Dobes against the Sharks.
And finally, the Devils and the Lightning in the afternoon at home during Super Bowl weekend? This would be split in two, probably giving Monty the Sunday off before the Four Nations.
Obviously, this is all just a plan for fun. And that can change depending on the guys’ performances and depending on injuries. But right now, that’s how I would go.
With a second goalkeeper that we have to test, we will have to give him matches. Having him warm up the bench is not a solution.
In burst
– He’s getting better.
– Jakub Dobes is not a flash in the pan. [TVAS]
– QMJHL in Newfoundland: what will the club be called?
